http://www.rene.bz/2010/04/28/changing-way-i-wake-my-phone

Rene has written a review of an iPhone app that monitors sleep patterns and will wake you when you are in a light sleep at approximately the specified wake-up time. It deduces sleep patterns by monitoring movement, so presumably you need to have your iPhone in your pocket while sleeping.

Jason: You look like a spammer so I removed your company name and URL from your comment. Sorry if I made a mistake in this regard but I can't afford to give the appearance of allowing spam as it encourages misbehavior.

James: A quick web search suggests that SleepTracker is a software only thing, if that is the case then it isn't going to be nearly good enough. I want to know when I'm getting deep and REM sleep and when I'm half awake or in light sleep.

The MyZeo sounds like it might be interesting, if the web site didn't suck so much I might have been able to learn enough about it to reference it in this post. But it seems that Zeo don't want non-Flash users to buy or review their products.

Something like the SleepTracker iPhone App, except it'd have to be for an open phone platform like Android so you could control SMS delivery.

The potential for numerous forms of patient monitoring is quite promising given the general availability of smart phones. With the proliferation of apps, it will likely be that such monitoring capabilities will be offered by independent vendors rather than only the device manufacturers themselves.
